Surprisingly Easy Ways to Increase Traffic to Your Blog and Promote Posts

speaker man

Ok…so you’ve written a really great blog post, but how do you encourage people to read your blog, and gain more awesome followers?

Here are some surprisingly easy tried and tested ways of increasing traffic and getting more readers of your posts:

Tweet your posts: Sending your posts out to twitter is  a great way of engaging more readers, and there’s absolutely no harm in tweeting your post a few or more times throughout the course of a day, to get your word out there.

Post to Facebook: Don’t forget your friends and readers on facebook. Include an image on your post and check different times of the day to see when your readers click on your links.

Pinterest: Another fun and very popular social platform, not to forget. Pimp up your post with a funky image and pin, and reach out to other pinners and re-pin any of their pins you find fun or interesting, by doing this, they are likely to return the favor by checking out a few of your pins re-pinning them to their wall, and hence driving readers to your blog.

StumbleUpon: An oldie but a goodie. Install a StumbleUpon toolbar on your browser, and post your posts to StumbleUpon. It’s a great way of reaching readers beyond regular means, and as the name goes, readers will simply ‘StumbleUpon’ your posts.

Google+ : Google+ has become a very powerful and popular social media sharing platform. Let people in your circles know about your posts, and even ask for feedback if you wish, and create a circle of your own, invite your friends and followers to it and let others know about your circle – send out tweets to twitter and let your friends on facebook know about your circle…get the word out there!

Email: Email newsletters to your readers. Let your readers know once a week or once a month whats going on with your blog, -a perfect opportunity to promote specific content.

Invite guest posts: Inviting readers to guest post on your blog works wonders for both you and the guest writer, it draws followers of the guest writer to your blog, that might not have heard of your blog, and readers of your blog to the guest writer’s blog. And reach out to other bloggers and guest post on their blog too.

Create a free download to share with your readers: Gather a collection of your favorite posts, and put together an e-book for your readers to download and share with others. – Everyone loves a freebie!

Write content that solves issues: Just like this article is solving the issue of traffic flow, write an article to help solve a problem. Teaching people how to do things is a good way of creating more readers, and if they like the post, they are more thank likely going to want to share it with their readers!

Have a catchy headline: I can not express enough how important a headline is to the reader, after all, it’s usually what grabs the reader’s attention in the first place. Be daring and be original, look at the titles of other similar posts, to get a few ideas if you are stuck.

Feature another blogger: Interview your favorite’s great exposure for the both of you, and they will be honored that you are featuring them in your blog!  – a win, win!!

– They are just a few..Have you got any ideas you could add?

sharing is caring people

How to Focus On Those ‘Cloudy Days’

Ever had days when your head is just so clouded with stuff, that you just can’t seem to focus and no matter how many cups of tea of coffee you have, you just can’t think straight??  – Well if you’re human, you probably have!! (I think it’s only human, that we have those days, occasionally.)

Here are a few tips that might just help you focus a little better on those ‘cloudy days’

Cut out Distractions – Stop and have a look around and think about what could be distracting you, is the tv, or radio on in the background?  I tend to like having my favorite music on in the background, while I work, although sometimes it can be a distraction, and I tend not to get much work done, think for a minute, what might be possibly distracting you and simply remove yourself from it while you work.

Make a list – Writing a ‘to-do’ list can help you focus and think about what you want to achieve in the day, and can help remind you of what needs to get done. The same can be said for with your blog, think of a few blog topics, or posts you would like to write about and list them, I have a fairly long list of ideas for my blog posts, that I often think about when I’m not in front of my laptop, that I keep with me,  in a handy list on my mobile phone.

Stay organized – Is the room you’re working in, a little untidy?  I  personally find that I can’t seem to think straight, if the area around where I am working is untidy, and I know that there’s a mountain of house work to be done. But we are all different, with different levels of concentration, so for me, I prefer to work in a tidy workspace, but you might find it comfortable. Do what ever chores that need to get done, and get them out the road.

Take a break – Make  yourself a cuppa tea or coffee and relax for 5 minutes or so. – It might just be what you need!

Set a side a time to write – This is a great idea to do, to get yourself into a routine of getting your blog posting done, so you won’t find yourself stuck in front of the computer all day.

Get up and move – Go for a 15-20 min walk or just simply have a good stretch and walk around…sometimes the best ideas come to you when you’re not in front of the computer.

Know your limits – Some days, your head just might not be in it at all, no matter how hard you try…be easy on yourself!

Have some fun! – Who ever said that blogging had to always be serious? – have some fun with it, search the internet for some fun and interesting blog ideas, be creative…it’s not going to hurt to go a little off topic every now and then, and it gives your readers a little insight into your personality!

Do you agree? what helps you get by on those ‘cloudy days’?

Just What does Thanksgiving mean to You? #HappyThanksgiving

Sadly, here in Oz we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving and I have always wished we did. Thanksgiving to me really kicks off the festive season, bringing families and friends together, giving us all a time to reflect and appreciate the good things that the year has brought to us all, and not to mention the super-delicious turkey for dinner!!  I have never quite understood just why us Aussies don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, I have always thought that it was just an American thing. It’s disappointing really that we don’t celebrate it.

Anyways,  I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all, (since it’s the time of thanksgiving) for your support and and stopping by to read my posts. I am still feeling only fairly new to blogging, and am hoping that my blogs can be as popular and widely read as the best of them!  –  but as they say, practice makes perfect!  You all mean so much to me, and your comments and thoughts to my posts are always greatly appreciated. 🙂

So now it’s  over to you, and your turn. I would love to hear your thoughts on what Thanksgiving means to you, and how you might be celebrating it.

Thank you again, for stopping by, hope you continue to enjoy reading my posts, and I truly wish you all a very, very happy Thanksgiving! xx

A Quick Question to You….

So this is my 2nd “official” blog post…and already I think I am getting the hang of things, WordPress seems to make things fairly straight forward with their editing tools and and dashboard, and I’m really quite enjoying re-posting and re-blogging articles I find interesting and fun 🙂

A question to you, my lovely readers…Is there anything I could improve on, with my blog? Is there anything I need to do differently, perhaps? – I’m open all ears, and open to any comments to help make this site a great one!

Cheers guys!! xx
